On this Memorial Day, and all Memorial Days I think of my Dad who served in London during World War II. He went because he was told to go. There was no question. He never could talk about the War, but was very patriotic. He always brought in the flag the moment a drop of rain would fall. My mother kept the home fires burning, and stayed in the USA, taking care of my brother who was only two. She worked in a munitions factory. A real Rosie the Riviter. She told the story of how she cried the whole night he was leaving, while my father slept all night. What else could he do?
I am grateful to my Dad, and my Mom who gave up so much so we could have our freedoms. I am grateful to all those who served. Thank you.
